Lose your cellulite in 2 weeks: bye to orange peel skin!

Summary

What you need to know to get rid of cellulite. Cellulite is natural, normal and very common. Despite this, it is normal that you want to learn how to get rid of cellulite or at least reduce its appearance. Where to start to lose your cellulite in 2 weeks?

Here's How to Lose Cellulite in 2 Weeks

The dimples on your face: adorable. The dimples on your butt: you might not like them as much. Neither are flaws, and both are completely normal.

That said, if you want to know how to lose cellulite in 2 weeks or know which cellulite reduction options actually work, there are a few things to consider.

What is cellulite?

Cellulite is the result of the presence of subcutaneous fat (the fat under the skin) in the dermis, the layer of skin just below the epidermis (the outermost layer). Inside the dermis is a network of connective tissue that resembles a honeycomb.

As fat cells increase in size, the connective tissue in this layer weakens and the fat protrudes, giving the skin a dimpled appearance.

The amount of body fat, the distribution of fat (which is influenced by genetics), the thickness of the skin and the strength of the connective fibers are all factors that determine whether you have cellulite.

And let's thank hormones for sparing men but giving this condition to most women. According to a study published nearly 85% of women over 20 have cellulite, while only 10% of men have it. Men have thicker layers of skin, so it is more difficult for fat to penetrate the dermis.

From the age of 25, women who do not exercise lose an average of 2.5 kg of muscle per decade and gain 5 kg of fat.

Add to this the fact that collagen stores decline by about 1% per year and that women naturally have a higher percentage of body fat than men, and it's no surprise that cellulite becomes more prominent as women age.

Furthermore, surprisingly little is known about cellulite.

Here's what we know about cellulite:

  • It's more than just skin. Simply put, cellulite is pockets of fat that have compressed between bands of tissue, called septa, that sit beneath your skin.
  • Cellulite is definitely discriminatory. Women of all races suffer from it, while virtually no men suffer from it. This is because the septa are different in women than in men. Men have stronger bands in a crisscross formation that hold fat in place more effectively. Women have more flexible vertical septa that fat can more easily pass through.
  • Size doesn't matter. Women of all shapes and weights have cellulite. The more body fat you have, the more likely you are to have significant dimpling. But even the thinnest women have a little bit of fat between their muscles and skin. That's all it takes for cellulite to appear.
  • You can't diet cellulite away. Losing weight can sometimes improve it, but ironically, it can also make it worse. When you lose weight, your skin can sag after the weight loss, making cellulite appear more pronounced.
  • Cellulite is hereditary. Genes help determine how you store fat and how likely that fat is to leak through the walls that are supposed to contain it.
  • Hormones play a role. But it is not clear what role. Since cellulite appears at puberty, doctors believe that estrogen is involved. However, this has not been proven.
  • It's not easy to treat. Liposuction, which has been marketed as a treatment for cellulite, often makes it worse. Removing fat through liposuction can make your skin even more bumpy than it was before.

Causes of cellulite

Cellulite is sneaky. Even experts disagree on why it suddenly appears. Some doctors say cellulite is caused by poor circulation in the skin covering your buttocks, thighs, and the backs of your arms.

They believe that the capillaries and blood vessels that supply nutrients to the skin in this area begin to deteriorate and allow lymphatic fluid to leak into the fat cells, which become engorged.

These fat cells clump together, fill with fluid, and move toward the surface of the skin, causing bumps and pits.

The health of the skin itself deteriorates in this scenario. This, combined with the decrease in the amounts of collagen, a protein that gives skin its structure as we age, causes the skin to sag and weaken, making the engorged fat cells even more visible.

The problem is, there's not a lot of solid science behind this reasoning. Yet it's the basis of many popular treatments, including endermologie, which involves vigorously crushing and rolling your fat in a machine that's supposed to increase circulation and eliminate stored fat.

How to get rid of and lose cellulite in 2 weeks?

There is little evidence to support claims that topical creams, medications, or liposuction permanently eliminate cellulite.

As for the unique FDA-approved Cellulaze laser procedure, which claims to flatten bumps and dimples while stimulating collagen production to increase skin elasticity and thickness by more than 25%, its long-term effects aren't yet fully known (and the short procedure costs anywhere from $2,000 to $10,000 depending on the size of the area treated).

If you read cellulite treatment claims carefully, you'll notice that reputable companies tend not to claim that their cream, laser, or massage will eliminate cellulite.

The truth is that since cellulite is most likely a structural problem, it will come back like the proverbial bad penny if the structure is not changed. You can't cure it, but you can help make it much more pleasing to the eye.

The Future of Cellulite Treatment

Clinical trials are underway for a remedy developed by the researchers. Their work has led to the development of a collagenase injection, a non-surgical method of smoothing skin by breaking down the collagen that binds fatty tissue beneath the skin.

The ten women treated experienced an average 76% reduction in the appearance of cellulite and reported being extremely satisfied with the results six months later.

Although a larger phase 2 study is still underway, researchers are optimistic that this could be the first effective, FDA-approved medical treatment for cellulite.

Here are some techniques to lose cellulite in 2 weeks:

To lose cellulite in 2 weeks: Do weight training

Exercise is key. While there is no specific research on the impact of exercise on cellulite, a toning routine can firm up the overall appearance. Women should start by lifting weights two to three times a week.

Resistance training acts as fillers for your skin. If your muscles are more defined, your skin will look smoother. If you lose weight and replace it with muscle, you will have a thinner layer of fat and your cellulite will improve.

To lose cellulite in 2 weeks: Reduce your weight

Achieving a healthy weight can help reduce cellulite. But losing weight without firming up your figure isn't always the magic bullet for reducing cellulite. When you lose weight, your skin can become looser, pulling on the septa, and cellulite can become more visible.

The younger you are and the better your skin elasticity, the smoother the results will be. For the rest of us, strength training is the best way to keep skin as tight as possible.

In one eight-week study, combining a healthy diet (heart-healthy grains, lean protein, fruits, vegetables, low-fat and full-fat dairy, and healthy fats) with 40-minute workouts (half cardio, half strength training) three times a week helped women lose an average of 20 pounds of fat.

All 79 women in this study reported some improvement in their cellulite. Even those who only followed the workout routine. Over 70% of them noted a decrease in cellulite observed in addition to a more defined and improved overall physique.

Strengthen your skin

Topical treatments that can boost skin collagen, such as Retin-A or creams containing retinol or vitamin C, can't hurt and may even help.

Easy Home Remedies to Lose Cellulite in 2 Weeks

Forget expensive creams and laser treatments.

Here are some natural home remedies to lose cellulite in 2 weeks:

  • Healthy Diet and Exercise

Did you know you can get these mental health benefits from exercise? Women who did 20 minutes of aerobic exercise and 20 minutes of strength training two or three days a week, combined with a healthy diet, gained an average of 2.5 pounds of muscle, lost an average of 2.5 pounds of fat, and reported less cellulite.

What we found is that if you add muscle while losing fat, it should help make the overlying skin smoother.

  • Foam bearings

You're probably already foam rolling to recover from your workout, but there's a bonus: It might be one of the best home remedies for leg cellulite.

Massage helps to soften the fibrous bands of connective tissue that cause the dimpling of cellulite. One published study showed that patients who received 10 sessions of lymphatic massage (a similar technique) experienced significant softening of the tissues.

This is likely because the improved circulation from massage may prevent collagen and elastin from breaking down, which would affect the appearance of cellulite.

There's a catch, though: Study participants were required to perform four hours of lymphatic massage a day, which isn't a very quick fix.

  • Dry brushing

Gwyneth Paltrow may have made this beauty technique more popular, but there may be some merit to the practice. Exfoliation can help smooth the appearance of cellulite by increasing blood flow to the area and reducing inflammation.

Using a natural bristle brush, start at your feet and, working up the body, brush towards the heart using firm strokes.

Other natural home remedies to lose cellulite in 2 weeks:

  • Apple Cider Vinegar

It’s often said that natural home remedies for cellulite are found in the kitchen. Just one ingredient: Apple cider vinegar contains a plethora of probiotics and amino acids, and it helps the body create its own natural reserves of HCL (good belly acid), which is good for digestion and detoxification.

Detoxification is important because toxins, or anything that harms the body, play a huge role in the health of the fascia, which is the connective tissue that runs through every nook and cranny of the body beneath the skin. Fat stores toxins that are the hardest to break down which then distorts the shape of the fascia, potentially leading to the appearance of cellulite.

Toxins also contribute to the breakdown of collagen and elastin that keep skin smooth and firm. Collagen is stored in fascia, and elastin is found in the blood, so when distorted fascia restricts blood flow, the two can't work together.

Collagen provides firmness and elastin works like a rubber band, so it's important that both are working effectively for smooth skin.

  • Seaweed

Whether you eat it or soak in a seaweed bath, this ingredient is a powerful detox aid that can help fight cellulite.

It’s like a magnet in your body that attaches to toxins and pushes them out. It’s also high in iodine, which is wonderful for your thyroid and therefore your hormonal health. There’s some evidence that hormones may play a role in cellulite production, so keeping your thyroid healthy could be helpful.
